When the buttercups in the field across the street started to bloom, I decided it was the perfect time to try out my new antique carriage.

I had a great time photographing this beautiful mom and her adorable kiddos. Mom likes to have photos taken with her kids every spring, and the little one is about to turn one. It was very buggy out during our shoot, but the kids were troopers!
A lot of times when you are a photographer you get caught up on striving for perfection. You always want the perfect light, the perfect expression, the perfect picture. Because of this need for perfection, we as photographers, sometimes forget to take shots of the every day. To help us remember these important shots of real life, a group of photographers that I am involved with have decided to start a little blog series called “The Simple Things.” Each month we will shoot one of those simple moments in our lives that we have been neglecting with our cameras. At the end of the month we will make a blog post and share our stories. At the bottom of the post we will share a link to another photographer in the group so you can read her story. Then at the bottom of her post she will share the link to another talented photographer, and the circle goes on and on.
My oldest daughter, Claire, turned eight in February, and I hadn’t gotten around to doing her yearly photos. So over spring break, we went to a local botanical garden.
Isn’t she beautiful?!?
I’m not going to sugar coat. This shoot was not terribly enjoyable for Claire. She gets tired of having her picture taken. Much of the shoot went like this:

I processed a few more photos from Sophie’s six month session that I couldn’t resist sharing! I know that she will be mobile before I know it and will be so much harder to photograph, so I am trying to take advantage of the pre-crawling stage as much as I can!
This sweet little face kills me! She is starting to sit unsupported, but is still pretty wobbly, so I put a boppy pillow right behind her.
Love her smile!
She is always grabbing her little toes.
I can’t believe my little one is 6 months old! I don’t think I’ve seen a happier baby. This is such a great age and I wish I could freeze time for awhile.
She has the sweetest smile!
She has just started grabbing her toes.
She always curls her little toes together.
She has begun playing with rattles.
I’m so happy that she is mine!

My oldest daughter, Claire, has been asking for weeks now when we will dye our Easter eggs. My middle daughter, Anna, was so excited to dye them for the first time! They had so much fun! I figured this would be the perfect Simple Life entry.
No family activity is complete without some sibling squabbling (in our house anyway)!
The end result. Ta da!!!
The little one got to snuggle with Daddy while her sisters dyed eggs.

I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable little 3 month old and his older siblings. He wasn’t full of smiles, but who can resist those big beautiful eyes?!?
I can’t believe my sweet baby girl is 5 months already! She is full of smiles and giggles and couldn’t be any sweeter. I love her to pieces!
I adore her chubby legs!
She has recently noticed her hands and is mesmerized by them.
She is always sucking on her bottom lip.
Her smile melts me.
She has recently started to enjoy spending time in her exersaucer.
I love you, baby girl!

Meet Anna. She is two years old. Don’t let her big eyes and sweet face fool you. She is an ornery little thing.
She loves her blankie. Baths not so much. That is why her hair normally looks like this.
Whenever I get my camera out, this is the face she makes. Every time.
She loves drinking Danimals. She calls them Ah-mals. (She doesn’t like wearing hair clips.)
She loves jumping on the bed. She doesn’t know it, but she can’t jump. She just lifts one leg at a time. Or moves her arms up and down. It is really cute! (She also loves band aids. Check out her foot).
She has many expressive faces. This is the one she made when I asked her if I could eat her belly. The answer was No.
I know I am a little biased, but she has a smile that lights up a room. Even strangers comment on it.
I’m so lucky to be her Momma!
